Westmoreland County Disaster Exercise – “Operation Thunder”

Date/Time:   12:00 on Friday, October 20, to 12:00 on Saturday, October 21 (24 hours)

Location:      Greensburg and various sites throughout Westmoreland County

Multiple scenarios will be incorporated into the exercise; these will unfold at various times throughout the 24 hours. Due to the size and length of the exercise, TRCPA members and member organizations may participate in the following ways:

     Disaster volunteers (always fun!)

     Evaluators

     Observers

     Exercise staff

Businesses located in or having offices located in Westmoreland County are invited to conduct their own tabletop simulation of internal processes including evacuation or shelter-in-place plans during this full scale exercise. Information from the Joint Information Center (JIC) will be relayed to you as the scenario unfolds so you can incorporate it into your simulation.

For those wishing to participate, please provide contact information and a requested level of participation to Kathy Criss, criskx@upmc.edu, by Monday, March 6. You will receive additional information about planning meetings, etc., of which the initial meeting is March 15, 2006, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
